I pledge to assist those who come to me for support, guidance, and comfort by offering help that reflects fairness, dignity, and a spirit of justice. I will honor the traditions and principles of my religious affiliation while also respecting and serving individuals from diverse faith communities.
As a chaplain, I recognize the importance of working harmoniously within a pluralistic setting. I commit to providing pastoral care and ministry to all persons under my charge—regardless of their religious beliefs—offering the same effort and dedication that I would extend to members of my own faith tradition. I will actively collaborate with colleagues from different religious backgrounds, seeking to deliver the most comprehensive and meaningful ministry possible.
To uphold this promise, I will adhere to the US-NYS Chaplain Response Team’s Code of Discipline as well as the United States Code of Ethics for Chaplains. I will faithfully support their mission, values, and standards. Furthermore, I affirm my responsibility to hold myself and my fellow chaplains accountable for all public actions aligned with these ethical codes.
