Chaplain Commander – US-NYS Chaplain Response Team

Commander Angelino Luis Rodriguez serves as the Chaplain Commander of the US-NYS Chaplain Response Team, bringing a wealth of experience, compassion, and dedication to his role. His primary responsibility is to advise on religious, moral, and ethical matters, while ensuring the spiritual well-being of chaplains and the communities they serve. He is deeply committed to upholding the free exercise of faith and supporting those in crisis with empathy, respect, and hope.

Prior to his chaplaincy, Commander Rodriguez proudly served as a member of the New York City Auxiliary Police Department. His time working alongside the NYPD was transformative, allowing him to engage directly with the community, support local businesses, build lasting relationships, and develop a deep appreciation for public service and safety.

Over the years, Commander Rodriguez has continued to pursue training and certifications to better serve others. He holds certifications from:

• FEMA (Emergency Management)
• CPR/AED (Life-Saving Emergency Care)
• Civilian Police Academy (NYPD)
• Security Operations and Awareness

Commander Rodriguez has served faithfully as a chaplain for over five years. His passion for service is evident in his everyday actions—providing encouragement, promoting peace, and sharing God’s love with those in need. He believes that love, encouragement, and peace are essential for living joyfully in the presence of the Lord.
As Chaplain Commander, his vision for the US-NYS Chaplain Response Team is to cultivate a unified, compassionate, and highly trained team that delivers holistic spiritual care to individuals and communities across New York and beyond. He is committed to promoting the vital role of chaplaincy while advancing initiatives that uplift and strengthen the mental, emotional, and spiritual health of every member of the team.

Deeply involved in community service, Commander Rodriguez actively supports local food pantries, clothing drives, parade events, and volunteer efforts that provide resources to the underserved. He is a strong advocate for food distribution and community outreach that fosters dignity and hope for all.

One of the most defining moments of his life came on September 11, 2001, when he served as a first responder at the World Trade Center. That experience left a lasting impact on his soul, and it marked the beginning of a lifelong calling to go beyond the expected—to reach people where they are, love them unconditionally, and serve with courage and compassion.
Commander Rodriguez continues to lead by example, living a life of service, faith, and dedication to the betterment of others.
