Core Disclosures
Religious Non-Degree Status. US-NYSCRT provides religious, non-credit, non-degree chaplaincy training. ACPE Disclosure. US-NYSCRT is not an ACPE-accredited center and does not award ACPE units. ACPE units are earned only at ACPE-accredited centers through our referral/placement agreements.
Pathway. Our programs serve as pre-CPE preparation and foundational training. See Pathway to Board Certification for typical U.S. requirements.

1) Programs Offered

A) Basic Chaplain Certificate (FOUNDATION)

  • Type: Religious, non-credit, non-degree (pre-CPE)
  • Hours: ~28 clock hours (9 weeks)
  • Curriculum: 9 chapters (chaplain roles; interfaith ministry; disaster spiritual care; DV/abuse; addiction; grief; mental health; death notification; elder/child abuse; bullying/autism; anger/suicide/conflict)
  • Prerequisites: Age 18+, government photo ID, HS diploma/equivalent, pastoral/character reference, basic tech access for online cohorts
  • Co/Post-requisites (external): CPR, FEMA ICS-100/Intro to ICS, Concepts of Religious Literacy for Emergency Management (proof required to issue credential)
  • Deliverables: Certificate of Completion “CHAPLAIN”; US-NYSCRT ID credentials; official shield/badge; Badge Holder/Wallet

B) First Response Chaplain Certificate (ADVANCED)

  • Positioning: Post-Basic module based on First Response Chaplain Training Manual (SCA)
  • Type: Religious, non-credit, non-degree (pre-CPE advanced)
  • Hours: 16 clock hours (4Ă—4 hrs or 2Ă—8 hrs with drills)
  • Eligibility: Basic Chaplain Certificate (US-NYSCRT or recognized equivalent with proof)
  • Strongly recommended: ICS-200, IS-700, current CPR
  • Required texts (must purchase both):First Response Chaplain Training Manual
    • English edition $70
    • Spanish edition $60
      (Manuals used with permission; reproduction not permitted.)
  • Outcomes: First Response Chaplain certificate; optional “FIRST RESPONSE CHAPLAIN” rocker/patch; ID designation update

2) Schedule & Modality

  • Delivery: In-person (925 Jerusalem Ave., Uniondale, NY 11050) and/or live online
  • Typical cohort time: Fridays 7:00–9:00 p.m. (Basic) + scheduled intensives (Advanced)
  • Calendar: See the Training hub and your confirmation email for exact dates

3) Admissions

  • Minimum: 18+, government photo ID, HS diploma/equivalent
  • References: Pastoral/character reference may be requested
  • Technology: Camera/mic for online cohorts; stable internet
  • Clinical sites: May require background checks, health/immunization clearance, and additional screening (their rules apply)

4) Tuition, Fees & Materials

  • Basic Chaplain Certificate: $600 (includes training book/manual, shield/badge, ID credentials, certificate)
  • First Response Chaplain (Advanced):$250(manuals not included)
    • Required manuals: English $70 + Spanish $60 (both required)
  • Uniform (optional): Polo $55; additional items in the Shop
  • Insignia/ID (optional): “FIRST RESPONSE CHAPLAIN” rocker/patch $12; ID reprint $25
  • Annual renewal (all designations): $125
  • Shipping (if applicable): Billed at carrier rates; international duties/taxes paid by recipient
  • Payment due: Tuition is due before Session 1; manuals are paid at order time

5) Attendance, Grading & Completion

  • Attendance: 90% minimum of scheduled hours
  • Assessment (Basic): 50-question final (≥70%) + practical participation
  • Assessment (Advanced): Scenario OSCE + 25-item knowledge check (≥70%)
  • Make-ups: At instructor discretion within published timelines
  • Completion: All tuition/fees paid; required external certifications submitted (where applicable)

6) Conduct & Professional Standards

  • Interfaith, non-denominational practice: Respect for faith diversity; no coercive proselytizing
  • Confidentiality & boundaries: Follow scene protocols, chain of command, and documentation standards
  • Harassment/discrimination: Prohibited—grounds for removal
  • Academic integrity: Original work in assessments/role-plays

7) Refund Policy (Original Payment Method)

  • Cancel ≥3 business days before Session 1: 100% tuition refund minus $25 processing
  • After Session 1 but before Session 2: 75% tuition refund
  • After Session 2 but before Session 3: 50% tuition refund
  • After Session 3 begins: No tuition refund
  • Materials/non-returnables: Once books/manuals, shield/badge, IDs are produced/issued, those costs and any shipping are non-refundable
  • Program cancellation by US-NYSCRT: Full tuition refund of unused portion or free transfer to a future cohort (student’s choice)
  • Refund timing: Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval

8) Transfers, Deferrals & Re-enrollment

  • Deferral to a future cohort: Allowed once at no cost if requested before Session 2 (space permitting)
  • Re-enroll after withdrawal: Subject to seat availability; prior payments/credits applied per policy
  • No-shows: Count as attendance; standard refund rules apply

9) Complaints / Grievances (Student)

  1. Informal resolution: Speak with your instructor within 7 business days
  2. Program Director: Email cpanameno@nyscrt.org (subject: “Student Complaint – [Your Name]”); written response in 7–10 business days
  3. Final appeal: Email the Executive Board (same address; subject: “Final Appeal – [Your Name]”); decision in 15 business days
    Retaliation for good-faith complaints is prohibited.

10) Privacy & Records

  • Data we keep: Enrollment info (e.g., headshot for ID, contact details, attendance, assessments)
  • Retention: Records kept ≥5 years; released only with written consent or as required by law
  • Media: Role-plays may be recorded for training; request opt-out in writing if needed

11) Accessibility & Non-Discrimination

US-NYSCRT welcomes reasonable accommodation requests. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion/creed, national origin, age, disability, sex, or any other status protected by law, consistent with our interfaith, non-denominational mission.

12) Safety & Emergency Changes

  • Safety first: We follow site/facility policies, including PPE and scene safety
  • Closures/rescheduling: Severe weather or emergencies may shift dates; students will be notified by email/SMS; options include reschedule or transfer

13) Marketing Accuracy

We do not present our training as ACPE, licensure, or an employment guarantee. All materials use the disclosures above.

14) Credentials, Renewal & Reprints

  • Credential issuance: Upon verified completion and payment of all fees
  • Annual renewal: $125 keeps all earned designations (Basic and Advanced) active
  • Grace period: 30 days after expiration; late reactivation may incur an admin fee
  • Reprints: ID $25, certificate $10 (name corrections due to student error are billable)
